League of Culture is proud to support these campaigns:
|Bacc for the Future aims to reform the EBacc so that arts subjects are included.||Building a Creative Nation is run by Creative and Cultural Skills. They aim to have created 6500 new jobs in the culture sector in 1000 days.|
|My Theatre Matters is run by Equity UK, The Stage and TMA. It asks supporters to write to their local councillors and MPs and tell them why their local theatre matters.||Lost Arts is jointly supported by the MU, Equity, BECTU, the Writers Guild of Great Britain, the NUJ, UNITE, Prospect and PCS. They document every cut to arts sector funding.|
|English PEN and The Howard League for Penal Reform ran a campaign to reverse the Government’s decision to ban prisoners from receiving books.
In July 2015, Secretary of State for Justice, Michael Gove repealed the ban.
|Visual artists in the UK are regularly expected to develop and exhibit their work without a fee. We don’t think this is right.
The Paying Artists campaign aims to secure payment for artists who exhibit in publicly-funded galleries. We believe paying artists for the work they do will mean that, in years to come, we’ll still be able to access quality art which reflects the broadest possible spectrum of human experience.
